Martine Meerkatt and Sebastian Rohwer will assume the position of co-CEOs at the media intelligence provider.
Martine Meerkatt will join UNICEPTA’s Management Board as a newcomer. Meerkatt brings over 25 years of management experience in the information and professional services industry, including roles at Bertelsmann and most recently at Novagraaf, an international patent and trademark service provider. Her areas of expertise encompass growth and digitization strategies, organizational development, and post-merger integrations.
Sebastian Rohwer will become the co-CEO, having been a part of UNICEPTA’s Management Board since 2017, most recently in the role of Chief Operations Officer. Since 2005, Rohwer has progressed through various roles at UNICEPTA, from project manager and team leader to head of the Media Monitoring division and ultimately the Management Board.
“Companies operate in an increasingly fast-paced landscape with complex relationships, and timely information has become a decisive competitive advantage. UNICEPTA boasts an excellent customer portfolio consisting of industry leaders and global players, an innovative product portfolio, and an outstanding team. I am very excited to support UNICEPTA’s continued stable growth on a global level,” explains Meerkatt.
“We combine the approach of ‘Tech and Talent’ like no other company by harnessing the possibilities of artificial intelligence for our media intelligence services while also relying on human expertise for contextualization and interpretation of relevant insights. This allows decision-makers in communication and marketing to gain maximum value for the strategic positioning of their companies and brands, as well as their daily communication management,” adds Sebastian Rohwer.
In addition to the technological advancement of media intelligence services, the further integration of the recent acquisitions is also a focus. In 2022, UNICEPTA acquired three companies: the AI startup Giance Technologies, the Swiss media intelligence provider Adwired, and the British ESG intelligence service provider Marble Global.
The new leadership team replaces outgoing CEO Jochen Freese, who is leaving the company by mutual agreement.
Theres Essmann, a member of the Management Board since 2017, will transition to UNICEPTA’s Advisory Board in July 2023, allowing her to focus on her career as a writer after 30 years in the media intelligence industry and 15 years at UNICEPTA.
“During his tenure as CEO, Jochen Freese successfully expanded the company internationally and made significant contributions. We express our sincere gratitude and wish him continued success on his future path,” says Krischan von Moeller, Partner at Paragon and majority shareholder at UNICEPTA since 2018. “With Martine Meerkatt and Sebastian Rohwer, we have a strong and experienced CEO team at the helm of UNICEPTA. We are also delighted that Theres Essmann will remain with us as a member of the Advisory Board, bringing her valuable insights and extensive experience working with customers to her new role,” Moeller continues.
