The UNICEPTA ESG Sensor analyzes the context of and corporate stances on political, environmental, and social topics

The UNICEPTA ESG Sensor enables the analysis of opportunities and risks related to corporate reputation on one platform

The analysis includes not just the company in question, but also its competitors and current trends

A modular service portfolio offers scalability

20.01.2023

UNICEPTA, a global market leader in AI-based corporate, media, and marketing intelligence, launches its information and analysis platform: ESG Sensor. It will, for the first time, provide companies with a lucid real-time overview of political, environmental, and social topics in the context of their business. The platform not only monitors the client in question, but also their competitors, as well as current topics and trends in the context of ESG.

“Corporate leaders are expected to do more than have a firm grasp on KPIs nowadays. Stakeholders increasingly evaluate companies by their perceptible assumption of responsibility and taking a correspondingly unequivocal stance. Financial markets, regulators, and society at large expect business leaders to take quick action on ESG risks related to their production, supply chains, partners, or market environment. In order to be convincing, companies require not just a data-based assessment of their own reputation, but also timely insights into current opportunities and risks related to topics that are relevant to society, as well as regular updates on trends and developments,” says Jochen Freese, CEO UNICEPTA Group.

“With our ESG Sensor, we offer precisely this information via a single platform. These data points and insights enable our clients to to identify ESG drivers and opportunities as well as early warning signals indicating potential risks in real time. Our holistic solution covers all three aspects of ESG, that is environmental, social, and governance topics. In doing so, we are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

Modular structure with three scalable basic products

As goals vary greatly depending on company size and orientation, the ESG Sensor has a modular structure. The respective services are divided into three scalable sub-modules. Thus, the ESG Report provides a snapshot of current trends and thought leaders as well as an overview of the company's own perception in the various fields of ESG.

The ESG Radar meanwhile provides a regular monitoring of both the client and its market environment. The ESG Radar is a live analytics dashboard offering a quick and accurate overview of all reporting on ESG issues. In addition to mapping positioning, this includes monitoring of direct competitors, an overview of the general impact of ESG-related issues – equipped with various filter options – as well as identification of the most important factors that influence ESG. More than 20 sub-topics are monitored in real time, from air pollution and emissions to human rights and diversity to working conditions in the supply chain.

The line-up is completed by the ESG Signals corporate intelligence solution, the latest UNICEPTA offering. By combining big data technology with machine learning and event extraction, millions of data sources are scrutinized, but only the signals that are actually relevant to potential ESG risks are identified in real time.

Looking at the presence and presentation of companies on ESG topics reveals massive potential. Strong business voices on the topic of sustainability are often still notably difficult to find. “Even though public discourse on sustainability issues has a direct impact on the freedom of action that individual companies enjoy, they are thus far scarcely involved in the discussion,” says Freese.

Leverage data to regain communication control

“With our ESG Sensor, we are providing companies with a framework for data-based self-assessment, enabling them to develop a continuous stream of communication on specific measures to combat relevant crises and problems,” Freese concludes. “Only when businesses can transparently demonstrate that they are putting a greater emphasis on issues like climate protection or fair pay than the pursuit of short-term profits will they be able to position themselves as a strong voice in the debate.”
